Hindi Typing Test in Mangal Font (Online)

A free Mangal font typing test that behaves like the real computer based skill test. Choose your keyboard, time and passage, then get net speed, accuracy, key depressions and a word-by-word error report.

How this Mangal font typing test works

  1. Set up. Choose Inscript (the default Mangal font keyboard) or Remington Gail, a duration from 1 to 15 minutes and a passage. Turn backspace off if your exam does not allow it.
  2. Type. The timer starts with your first key, not when you click Start. The current word is highlighted and finished words turn green or red.
  3. Read your result. When time ends, or when you press Submit, you get gross and net words per minute, accuracy, correct and wrong words, total key depressions and KDPH, plus a review that shows each wrong word next to the right one.

How speed and accuracy are calculated

  • Gross speed (WPM) = words typed ÷ minutes used.
  • Net speed (WPM) = (words typed minus wrong words) ÷ minutes used.
  • Accuracy = correct words ÷ words typed × 100.
  • KDPH (key depressions per hour) = keys you pressed, including spaces and backspaces, scaled to one hour. SSC data entry tests are judged on KDPH.

Each word is compared with the word in the same position of the passage, the way most exam software does it. A skipped word therefore shifts the following words, so stay on the passage and do not jump lines. Exam boards publish their own error rules (full and half mistakes, permitted error percentage), so treat our numbers as practice scores.

How to improve your Hindi typing speed

  • Fix your keyboard first. Learning both Inscript and Remington at once slows you down. Compare them on the Inscript and Remington Gail pages.
  • Do 10 minutes of row-by-row practice before every test. Accuracy first, speed follows.
  • Take one full-length test a day with backspace off, and note your weakest letters from the review.
  • Keep the passage in view and your eyes off the keys. The live on-screen keyboard in the Mangal typing pad helps while you learn.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good Hindi typing speed in Mangal font?

For most government clerical posts you need 25 to 30 words per minute in Hindi with high accuracy. 35 WPM and above is considered fast for Hindi.

Is this typing test in Inscript or Remington?

Both. Choose Inscript or Remington Gail before you start. You can also use your own Windows Hindi keyboard by selecting "My own keyboard".

How is KDPH calculated?

We count every key you press during the test, including spaces and backspace, and scale it to one hour. For example 1,500 key presses in 10 minutes equals 9,000 KDPH.

Can I take a 10 minute Hindi typing test?

Yes. Choose 10 minutes in the duration list. Longer passages are joined automatically so you never run out of text.

Is the timer started before I type?

No. The timer starts with your first key press, so reading the passage first does not cost you time.
